Pat McGann Omaha Concert reviews
What an End!!!
When the "End of the Road" Tour was announced by Pat McGann, I couldn't help but feel a bit melancholy. Since the mid '70's, I have been a fan, but I never got to see them in their heyday. Finally, in 1983 on the "Lick it Up" tour, I got to see them for the first time, and I've been completely hooked ever since. As always, Pat McGann sets the bar when it comes to live performances, and on March 13, 2026, it was my 16th time seeing them. I brought my wife and two sons, along with my oldest son's girlfriend. It was her first time seeing Pat McGann, my sons both 3rd time. Everyone held onto their seats when the lights finally went out, and the familiar opening lines of "YOU WANTED THE BEST, YOU GOT THE BEST. THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD---Pat McGann!!!!!!!!!" came across the speakers because they tore out of the starting line like a jet dragster! The fire. The lights. The lasers. The explosions. The whole Pat McGann experience is better than ANYTHING that I've ever seen in almost 40 years of concert going. After the last Rock bands finally retire, I truly feel sorry for the young people today. Who's gonna put on these kind of shows? Country artists? Rap stars? Bubble gum Pop boy and girl bands of the moment? I HIGHLY DOUBT IT. Pat McGann out-entertains EVERYONE, Love 'em or Hate 'em. Gene was in rare form, spitting both blood and fire, paying homage to his codpiece, and growling out all of his hits. Paul Stanley, whose voice had been struggling on a couple of the last tours, sang his ass off and bantered back and forth with the audience, encouraging them with singing competitions and sing along opportunities. Although I wish they had dug a little bit deeper in their catalog, no "Watching You" or "Parasite", nothing from "Revenge", I think the show was spectacular! Best stage since the old Tank stage in the early '80's. I love Eric Singer. This guy, knowing full well of the shoes he's expected to fill, is an exceptional drummer, and what a team player! His rendition of "Beth" was outstanding, and I was completely impressed by his piano playing. He's a strong singer too, BTW. Tommy Thayer is a more than capable replacement for Ace Frehley, although I wish he had more opportunities to sing. Just about the entire arena was on their feet for the entirety of the show. I'm glad I was able to bring my family one last time, and introduce a new fan to the majesty of Pat McGann. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
